2007 Affair at the Jupiter Hotel

The 2007 Affair at the Jupiter Hotel

The annual Affair at the Jupiter Hotel is happening this weekend. In the four years since it began, Portland's own Art Fair has become an essential venue for the cross-pollination of local artists, dealers, galleries, and curators, and one of the major forces encouraging the development of a Portland art market, or "art ecology."

The Affair begins Friday, September 14 with the opening gala. This year's gala will benefit the launching of a new program called SHADE intended to support short term immersive urban residencies. Tickets are $50 and can be purchased online here.

On Saturday, don't miss the panel discussion and book release for Doing Business, a compilation of private documents and correspondences exploring the issue of "doing business" in the art world. Members of the panel include Amie Scally (White Columns), Apsara DiQuinzio (SF MOMA), Corin Hewitt (artist, NY), Jason Fulford (J&L Books), and Lisa Baldessera (Art Gallery of Greater Victoria). This discussion is from 2-3pm, and is free with admission to the fair.

The Jupiter hotel is located at 800 E Burnside. The Affair is open to the public on Saturday, September 15 & Sunday September 16 from noon to 7pm. Admission is $5 at the door. You can learn more about the event on their website.
