Scratching the Surface, an August 2007 project by Gallery Homeland, is a series of installations, performances, discussions, and even a breakfast, designed to develop a creative of understanding of Portlanders' relationship with our waterways. The opening event features live music, performance, and installation art, including Grace Luebke & Ben Stagl's Tumbleweed at 7pm and Bruce Conkle's Mountain Romance at 8pm. Chris Willis

This month, Newspace presents Estate Sale, a photography exhibition by Chris Willis. For the past year, Willis has been visiting estate sales, using a style he calls "casual observation photography" to document the beauty of used objects and the unique glimpse those objects give us into people's private lives and spaces.
