Psst, artists!

The Portland Regional Arts & Culture Council offers grants for up to $6,000 to local artists and non-profit organizations in three categories: artistic focus, neighborhood arts, and arts in schools. Intent to apply for the 2007-2008 project grants must be declared by this Wednesday, August 1. Visit the project grants website for more information.

The Oregon Arts Commission also offers annual grants to local artists, funded by the Oregon Cultural Trust and the National Endowment for the Arts. Their fellowship deadline this year is October 15. For more details, visit the OAC Grants page.

This one is especially for you creative Portland recyclers. Portland's annual benefit for Orlo, a non-profit arts organization dedicated to environmental causes, is looking for submissions. Junk to Funk is a recycled fashion show, featuring re-appropriated pieces of wearable "trash," and offering prizes up to $500. The deadline to submit work is October 17. For more information, and to download an application, click here.

New York City's venerable Prince Street Gallery has announced a national call for artists for a January, 2008 show juried by Irving Sandler. Submissions must be postmarked by October 22. Download the prospectus from them here.
