Paperchase at Guestroom Gallery

Jenny Strayer’s curatorial debut, Paper Chase highlights the mediums of collage and photomontage as used by eight west coast and one New York artist. “When faced with the challenge of making art from paper these nine artists responded with work as diverse and as individual as this versatile medium will allow (which means this is the latest in a long line of collage shows in Portland).” Artists included: Michael Brieger
Shelley Chamberlin, James Gallagher.Heidi Kirkpatrick, Eva Lake, Shawn Long, Eric Rue, Jenny Strayer and the awesome Philip Iosca (who is one to watch).
Opening reception • 7-10pm • Feb. 2-March 31st

Nothing is Lost at Newspace

Nothing is Lost is collaborative photography installation by Mariana Tres, one of our favorite former Portlanders (she got great university position in Bloomington Indiana but is always coming back). Tres sent out disposable cameras to 33 people including an Israeli soldier, a postal worker in Indiana, an astrophysicist in Seattle, an eight year-old girl, a journalist in Argentina, a meditation leader in Philadelphia and other random friends and strangers across the U.S. to investigate human experience and inspire a collective reading of our lives through photographs.
Opening Reception • 7-10pm • March. 2-31
Newspace • 1632 SE 10th Ave. • Tel. 503.963.1935

Also, don't forget it's the last weekend for Step Up Vs. Do No Harm at The New American Art Union, they will be open for 1st friday as well.
New American Art Union • 922 SE Ankeny Street • Tel.503.231.8294
