If you’re looking for an alternative to the first Thursday rounds or like to squish a lot of art into a short amount of time, make your way to Reed College for Lou Cabeen’s lecture “Home Embroidery: The Art and Craft of Domestic Pleasure”. Part of the Excellence in Craft Lecture Series hosted by the Contemporary Crafts Museum and Gallery, Ms. Cabeen will “discuss the historic role that ‘hobby’ kits and samplers have played in domestic life.” In addition to being an artist, she is also the Associate Professor of Art and Adjunct Professor of Women’s Studies at the University of Washington in Seattle.
