Fletcher in the city

Local boy, Harrell Fletcher received a nice review from Jerry Saltz for his recent show at White Columns, read it on Artnet here. I think Harrell started down this path with his scar project. I'm also glad that Thomas Hirschhorn is wearing thin with other critics like Saltz as well.... for the longest time he seemed like the only artist critical of current events and I dug it, now he's becoming a parody. That's the danger of political art and I still miss Leon Golub, nobody did it better.

You couldn't be more right Jeff. Nobody did it better than Golub. He has been an influence of mine for years and years. Then I befriended Stuart Horodner, who made me even more of a fan of Golub's work. Speaking of Stuart, what happened with that guy? I haven't talked to him for months. I think he left Atlanta. Not sure though.

Stuart Horodner is now the Curator at the Atlanta Contemporary- you will also see him in town in September for the Affair @ the Jupiter which he runs with Laurel Glitten.

"After a nationwide search, the Atlanta Contemporary Art Center has hired Stuart Horodner as its new programming director beginning May 1." - Creative Loafing
