lots of artist opportunities

Via the Oregon Arts Commission: The University of Oregon is seeking art for the new Cheryl Ramberg Ford & Allyn Ford Alumni Center. Works will primarily be placed around the first floor fireplace hearth, and they're seeking to complement the building's "clean, modern, and technology-rich aesthetic" with "fine art which shows the hand of the artist in the materials. Works should tell a story that relates to history or place, through materials or a regional sensibility. The work is expected to be of lasting and durable materials." Applications are due on March 12, and you can get all the details here.

Little Field, one of the alley art spaces on Alberta, is seeking "proposals for site specific installations through 2010. Little Field is a unique space that seeks those artists who will engage and challenge the potential of the space. Please send proposal ideas or site information requests to littlefieldpdx@gmail.com."

The 29th annual gender studies symposium at Lewis & Clark College is seeking gender-related artwork for the art exhibition that runs concurrent with the symposium. Submissions are due by February 19 - you can learn more about the symposium here and get more info on submitting art from Casey MacDonald at caseymm@lclark.edu.

And finally, for those looking to branch out of Oregon, here's an opportunity from Brooklyn's 3rd Ward design center: "The 2010 Winter Solo Show is a juried art competition for dynamic, inventive and provocative work of all mediums: sculpture, photography, painting, printmaking, illustration, installation, graphic design, video and more!" Solo exhibitions, cash awards, and a residency are among the prizes available to the top selected artist. Submissions are due by March 1, and you'll want to read up on the open call here.
