Loren Schwerd • PSU MFA Monday Night Lecture Series

Loren Schwerd was born in NYC. She received her BFA in Studio Art from Tulane University, and her MFA in Sculpture from Syracuse University. Her research includes sculpture, site-related installation, video, and wearable art. Loren's diverse body of work reveals an inclination for paradoxical and metaphorical representations, a love of craft, and a sense of humor and empathy. Her recent work has been exhibited at the Southeastern Contemporary Art Center, NC, the Mobile Museum of Art, the Columbus Museum of Art, GA, the State Museum, SC, Grounds for Sculpture, NJ, the Owensboro Museum of Art, KY, the Car Art Museum in TX, and the Spaces Gallery, OH. She has received fellowships from the Southeastern College Art Conference, the Vermont Studio Center, and the Millay Colony for the Arts. Loren taught at the College of Charleston, SC for several years before joining the LSU faculty as an Assistant Professor in 2005. (press release)
