Holidays Are For...Applying!

Nowhere.jpg

After you feast this weekend, ponder these exciting opportunities...

•As one window project fades away, another sprouts to life. Blackfish Gallery Window Project is currently seeking submissions for installations and site specific work. Why consider applying for this? Well, its free, and it just so happens to be across the street from one of the best galleries in the city!
Deadline: Ongoing
Application available at Blackfish Gallery
420 NW 9th
Portland, Or 97209

Nowhere gallery, a nomadic exhibition space housed in a redesigned travel trailer, is looking for artists to show their work in this unique venue. The gallery seeks work by emerging Portland artists who are working beyond the 2D format, and who are interested in inserting art into spaces or events where it’s not expected. Proposals for installations that will take full advantage of the trailer’s interior space, the location where it’s parked, and its ability to roam the city are encouraged.
Deadline: Dec. 15, 2006
Submit samples of your recent work in a format that’s easy to read and a detailed proposal of how you would incorporate your work into the Nowhere gallery format. Include desired dates, location(s) and duration of your proposed show.
Packets can be sent to:
Nowhere Gallery
2127 North Albina
Studio 108
Portland, Or 97227

Crawl Space is seeking submissions for its Centennial juried exhibition slated for January. This small but solid artist run space in Seattle has been receiving a ton of incredible press over the last year so here's your chance to splash onto the scene up north. Juried by Elizabeth Brown of the Henry Art Gallery and Bruce Grenville of the Vancouver Art Gallery. That alone is worth the entry fee.
Deadline: Nov. 25, 2006
On a single disk or DVD:
- up to 10 digital files
- artist resume in pdf format
- artist statement in pdf format
- slide description list in pdf format
- $20 entry fee payable to Crawl Space
Send packets to:
Crawl Space
504 E Denny Way #1
Seattle, WA 98122

If you have an opportunity you would like to have considered for listing, please send it to me at callsforartists@portlandart.net

Have a happy and safe holiday!
