What works in Work/Live?

Untitled Document

Commissioner Sam Adams is asking for your opinion about live/work space needs in Portland. You can take his survey and/or leave your opinion on his Blog about what exactly a live/work space is now, it’s relevance for Portland artists and how you would utilize one. It’s a bit brief with questions that seem somewhat inconsequential. The hot-button question of whether you’d choose to have a dishwasher alluded to in the intro never materializes in the actual survey. Nevertheless, take a moment to answer the survey and leave your opinion. Who knows, it might result in something worthwhile.

While you're at it check out his Arts and Culture page. There you can get a sense of the larger culture's opinions about art in Portland. I like this one in regards to Commissioner Adams bringing public sculpture to the neighborhoods: "My neighborhood could use some avant garde pothole scupltures. I suggest the design proposal include hot asphalt, and something heavy to tamp it down with. The artists can sign their work, and the whole neighborhood will admire the pothole sculpture twice daily. That's the only kind of neighborhood art my tax dollars should be spent on."

It's definitely a forum worth checking in on. If you're not already reading this blog help skew opinions towards the arts by contributing your views.
