artist opportunities

This one might be too late, but students know how to work under tight deadlines. The Kimball Art Center in Utah is seeking applications for the Relevant 2011 artist-in-residency program. It's open to college and graduate-level art students around the country and includes in-studio sessions with mentors, panel discussions and art world networking events. Applications are due April 1. Get more information on their website.

UO's White Box gallery in the White Stag building is open for their next round of exhibition proposals for the September 2011 through September 2013 season. "Architects, designers, artists, curators and organizations are encouraged to submit proposals for exhibition programming in the White Box. Preference will be given to original exhibitions, curated for the White Box spaces, exploring contemporary inquiry from unique perspectives, and demonstrating a relationship to Portland’s community and the academic mission of the University." Due April 18. Bug whitebox@uoregon.edu, subject line Request for Exhibition Proposal_Your Last Name, for more information.

OSU is seeking public art for the INTO-OSU Living Learning Center, a multicultural residence facility. "The artwork may reflect ideas of integration, internationalization and cross-cultural awareness leading to mutual understanding and respect." Deadline for proposals is April 22, you can get the scoop on the Oregon Arts Commission website.

The 2011 New Directions in Drawing Symposium, sponsored by the Emily Carr University of Art + Design, is seeking submissions for an *online* drawing exhibition in conjunction with the May 11 symposium. The deadline is April 29 and you'll have to email kfiedrich@ecuad.ca for more information.

ARTPORT_making waves is seeking submissions for their third video competition on global warming. The final video compilation will be presented during Art Basel 2011. Submissions are due May 9, and you can find the details by scrolling down on this site.

The Chinook Book ("eco-friendly" business coupons) is seeking submissions for the cover art for their upcoming edition. Winner gets $500 and an artist credit, but it looks like they're buying the rights to the image for that (be sure to inquire). Submissions are due April 8, and the details are on their website.
