Kartz Ucci, "an opera for one"
TILT Export presents installation artists Kartz Ucci at the PCC Rock Creek Helzer Gallery. In an opera for one
, Ucci hired soprano Deanna Pauletto to sing a capella Pablo Neruda's book of poetry, "Twenty Love Poems and a Song of Despair." The piece was recorded in a 16-story, cement-encased stairwell and a color-coded score was composed based on Ucci's interpretation of the relation between color and its emotional vibration. The resulting installation is a "hauntingly romantic" response to this effort. This ongoing exhibition runs through October 30, 2009. The artist talk will be in the school's Forum, Building 3, followed by a reception in the gallery.
