Lots of Opportunities

Starting with MERGE at the University of Oregon. Their Adell McMillan Gallery is seeking submissions for a combined film and art exhibition exploring mixed and/or multi media genres. In addition to the month-long show, the gallery will feature a one night screening to give audiences the chance to "experience and interact" with new experimental film. Submissions of film or mixed media work (very broadly defined) are due by December 17, and you can get the full lowdown here.

The 23 Sandy Gallery is seeking submissions for Photo+Book. Recent developments in technology have made it much easier for photographers to self-publish, and this show seeks to highlight the pretty and polished books that photographers have made for themselves. The show will be juried by Christopher Rauschenberg, and the top four books will receive Best in Show awards. Submissions are due by January 24, and all the details can be found here.

The Broderick Gallery is seeking submission for its upcoming benefit show, Unexpected Beauty, Street Views. 20% of art sales will go directly to benefit Street Yoga, a wellness nonprofit for homeless youth. The gallery is seeking works on the themes of (but not wholly limited to) "streets, structures, need, hope, pride and unexpected beauty in areas oft considered to be 'blight'." Submissions are due by January 20 at their Lake Oswego location or January 21 at their downtown location, but the show will be at the downtown Portland space. Visit their website for more information.

Last minute alert! Local artist Carolina Medina Dupaix is seeking submissions for a group exhibition that she is curating at wine bar + art space Vino Vixens. The theme of the show will be Dark Bohemian Carnival, and submissions are due this Thursday, November 20. Scoot over to her blog to learn more.
