Harlan at Pushdot
Susan Harlan

Susan Harlan is delivering a different take on the glass mania invading Portland this month. Her series Invisible Territories features natural specimens preserved in glass slides, then digitally printed onto fused enamel glass panels. Fusing organic specimens into glass, Harlan's work explores and exposes the natural world in a way that breaks from the "organic" forms often found in blown glass sculpture.

Opening reception • 6-9pm • June 6
Artist Glass Conference reception • 6-9pm • June 20
Pushdot Studio • 1021 SE Caruthers St. • 503.224.5925

PNCA MFA at Worksound

It's graduation season! In addition to tonight's UofO BFA show, there will be an exhibition of work by PNCA's MFA candidates at Worksound this June. PNCA is one of the fastest growing art schools in the nation, and the work coming out of the school may have a profound effect on the arts in Portland. This is a valuable opportunity to preview the exciting painting, sculpture, film, and more that their students are producing.

Opening reception • Doors 6pm, Live music 8pm • June 6
Worksound PDX • 820 SE Alder • mojomodou@gmail.com

nicole amore at gallery homeland
Nicole Amore, "Out From Under"

This month, Gallery Homeland presents Figure 3. Three women artists, Catherine Brooks, Nicole Amore, and Amy Lincoln, explore figurative painting and its relationship to gender, sexuality, autobiography, and the psyche.

Opening reception • 6-9pm • June 6
Gallery Homeland • 2505 SE 11th • 503.819.9656

Jodi Boatman at newspace
Jodi Boatman

Newspace will be featuring the photography of Jodi Boatman. Her images come from the drive to preserve memory, and the fear of losing the little moments that make up life's events. Through photography, Boatman seeks not only to capture those moments, but to better understand the way they've shaped her, and even to release the fixation of sorrow.

Opening reception • 7-10pm • June 6
Newspace Center for Photography • 1632 SE 10th AVE • 503.963.1935

Five artists who share a studio in Yosemite are bringing their work to Grasshut this month. Souther Salazar, Ester Pearl Watson, Marth Rich, Seonna Hong, and Mark Todd will be exhibiting their whimsical (and rather Portland-esque) painting and collage. Grasshut promises they will "squirt amazingness into your eyes and hearts."

Opening reception • 6-9pm • June 6
Grass Hut Gallery • 811 E Burnside • 503.445.9924
