Are you ready?

9th NW biennial

The Tacoma Art Museum is seeking submissions for it's 9th NW Biennial. Frankly, last year's Biennial was less than satisfactory, and sadly lacked much Portland influence. So this year, Portland, step up your game! It is time to represent, and show off what the creative darlings of the NW can really do. Submissions are due July 26 - guidelines can be found here.

Cinematotale runs a series called Buspass: The Arts and Travel Show, "an online travelogue, biography, and arts discovery program dedicated to unearthing the hidden gems of an urban landscape." They're coming to Portland July 1st & 2nd, and are searching for two artists to feature in their Portland episode. Deadline to submit examples of your work is June 25, and you can learn more about it here.

Erin Dougherty

This fall, Conrad Williams and photographer Erin Dougherty are opening Gallery 449 in downtown Eugene. They're interested in 2D and 3D art with a "fresh insight," are open to performance art, and are currently seeking submissions for the upcoming season. Deadline is July 15, and submission guidelines are here.

A rendering of Keizer City Hall

The city of Keizer is seeking a sculptor to complete a bronze statue in honor of city founder Thomas Dover Keizur. The artist will work with a team of city officials and citizens to "develop a piece of art the community can be proud of." Deadline for proposals is July 18, and you can find a PDF of submissions guidelines here.

racc-2009.jpg

The RACC is seeking submissions from non-profits and individual artists for its 2009 grant season. RACC Project Grants support a wide range of artistic events and activities throughout Portland, and awards can range from $1,000 to $6,000 in two categories, Artistic Focus and Neighborhood Arts. Intent to apply forms are due by July 30. Applications and guidelines can be found here.

anyone think that the submission process of the NW Biennial is kinda weird? they want 8 digital images and nothing else. i suppose that's okay for most visual art, but not so good for performance, film, or video. and what about sound?
